No AT, quando esse mandamento, a “promessa” tem a ver com a ocupação da “terra”, ou seja, de toda a Palestina (Êx 20.12; Dt 5.16), desde que Israel se arrependesse de seus pecados e se mantivesse fiel a Yahweh (o nome de Deus em hebraico). Paulo, evidentemente, não está se referindo a esse aspecto particular, mas a uma aplicação geral dos resultados da obediência ao mesmo princípio bíblico.
