Diante disso, lhe indagaram: “Onde se dará tudo isso, Senhor?” Advertiu-lhes o Senhor: “Onde houver um cadáver, ali se ajuntarão os abutres!”

Jesus cita um antigo provérbio judaico em resposta à pergunta dos discípulos afirmando que esses eventos ocorrerão em todas as partes do mundo. Os abutres percebem o cheiro de carniça a quilômetros de distância, muito tempo antes do último suspiro de suas vítimas. Assim sendo, mesmo com o céu azul e limpo, os abutres já começam a se aproximar dos cadáveres dos incrédulos para seu banquete final. Todavia, quando essa hora chegar, os cristãos sinceros já estarão na glória do Senhor, salvos e exultantes. Uma alusão à carnificina que ocorrerá por ocasião do Armagedom (Ap 19:17 -19).
