2 When it is present, men take example at it; and when it is gone, they desire it: it weareth a crown, and triumpheth for ever, having gotten the victory, striving for undefiled rewards.
2 When it is present, men imitate it; And they long after it when it is departed: And [4]throughout all time it marcheth [5]crowned in triumph, Victorious in the strife for the prizes that are undefiled.
2 Quando está presente, imitam-na; quando passada, desejam-na; ela leva na glória uma coroa eterna, por ter triunfado sem mancha nos combates.[*]
2 Presente, a imitam; ausente, a deploram; na eternidade, triunfa - coroada, vitoriosa - numa luta de límpidos troféus.[o]
2 When it is present, they (pur)sue it; and they desire it, when it hath led out itself, and it over-coming getteth by victory the meed of battles undefouled, and is crowned without end. [When present it is, they follow; and desire it, when they have led out themselves, and it crowned into without end beareth the victory, taking by victory the meed of the undefouled strives.]
2 When it is present, they pursue [or follow] it; and they desire it, when it hath led out itself, and it over-coming getteth by victory the meed of battles undefouled, and is crowned without end.
