After [14] they had taken counsel to slay the babes of [15] the holy ones, And [16] when a single child had been cast forth and saved [17] to convict them of their sin, [18] Thou tookest away from them their multitude of children,And [19] destroyedst all their host together in a mighty flood.

Também tinham resolvido levar à morte os filhos dos santos, mas um deles foi exposto e salvo, e para puni-los fizestes perecer em multidão os seus filhos, e, todos juntos, vós os aniquilastes na profundeza das águas.[*]

Quando decidiram matar os filhos dos santos, e tendo sido exposto e salvo um só menino, como castigo, arrebataste seus filhos em massa[u] e os eliminaste, todos juntos, pela violência das águas.[v]

When they thought to slay the young children of (the) just men; and when one son was put forth, and delivered, (to reprove them), thou tookest away the multitude of (their) sons, that is, of the first (en)gendered of Egypt, for the leading over of them, and thou lostest, (or destroyedest), them (al)together in strong water. [When they thought to slay the infants of rightwise men; and one son laid out, and delivered, and into the overleading of them, thou took away the multitude of sons, and together them thou spoiledest in strong water.]

Os egípcios resolveram matar as crianças do teu povo, mas um menino israelita foi salvo, depois de ter sido abandonado. Para os castigares fizeste morrer muitos dos seus filhos e mataste todos os egípcios nas águas furiosas [49] .
