21 For then the blameless man made haste, and stood forth to defend them; and bringing the shield of his proper ministry, even prayer, and the propitiation of incense, set himself against the wrath, and so brought the calamity to an end, declaring that he was thy servant.

21 For a man without (com)plaint hast(en)ed to beseech for (the) peoples, and he brought forth prayer the shield of his service, and he alleged (or he offered up) prayer by incense, and against-stood ire; and he setted an end to the need, and showed that he was thy servant. [A man forsooth going without blame to pray for (the) peoples, bringing forth of his service the shield of an orison, and by incense praying alleging, withstood to the wrath, and end put to the need, showing for thy servant he is,]
21 For a man without complaint hasted to beseech [or to pray] for peoples, and he brought forth prayer the shield of his service, and he alleged prayer by incense, and against-stood ire [or withstood to the wrath]; and he setted an end to the need, and showed that he was thy servant.
21 Pois um homem [52] irrepreensível apressou-se a defender o teu povo. Ele carregava as suas armas de sacerdote, isto é, a oração e o incenso com que pedia a Deus o perdão dos pecados. Ele resistiu à tua ira e acabou com a epidemia, mostrando assim que era teu servo.
