Then the angel said unto him, Dost thou not remember the precepts which thy father gave thee, that thou shouldest marry a wife of thine own kindred? wherefore hear me, O my brother; for she shall be given thee to wife; and make thou no reckoning of the evil spirit; for this same night shall she be given thee in marriage.

But the angel said unto him, Dost thou not remember the words which thy father commanded thee, [18] that thou shouldest take a wife of thine own kindred? and now hear me, brother; for she shall be thy wife; and make thou no reckoning of the devil; for this night shall she be given thee to wife.

por isso eu temo que o mesmo venha a me acontecer, a mim que sou filho único, e desse modo faça descer lamentavelmente a velhice de meus pais à habitação dos mortos.

por isso tenho medo. A ela não faz nenhum mal, porque a ama;[i] mata, porém, quem queira aproximar-se dela. Sou filho único; se eu morrer, farei descer ao túmulo a vida de meu pai e de minha mãe em conseqüência da sua tristeza por minha causa. Eles não têm outro filho que lhes dê sepultura."

And therefore I dreaded, lest peradventure also these things befall to me; and since I am one alone to my father and mother, I (would) put down with sorrow their eld (age) to hells (or to the grave)/and since I am an only son to my father and mother, I dread to put down to hell their eld (age) with dreariness (or I fear to drive them to the grave through great sorrow). [I dread then, lest peradventure and these things fall to me; and since I am alone to my father and mother, I put down the eld (age) of them with sorrow to hell.]

Por isso, estou com medo. O demónio não maltrata a jovem, mas mata qualquer homem que tenta ter relações com ela. Sou filho único e, se eu morrer, o meu pai e a minha mãe ficarão tão tristes que morrerão, e eu serei o culpado. E eles não têm outro filho para os enterrar.»
