When that was done, they fell flat down, and besought the Lord that they might come no more into such troubles; but if they sinned any more against him, that he himself would chasten them with mercy, and that they might not be delivered unto the blasphemous and barbarous nations.

And when they had done these things, [7] they fell prostrate and besought the Lord that they might fall no more into such evils; but that, if ever they should sin, [8] they might be chastened by him with forbearance, and not be delivered unto blaspheming and barbarous heathen.

Feitas estas coisas, prostraram-se por terra e pediram ao Senhor que não mais os entregasse a semelhantes calamidades, mas, se recaíssem nas ofensas, que corrigisse com brandura, sem entregá-los às mãos das nações ímpias e bárbaras.

Realizadas essas coisas, prostraram-se com o ventre por terra, suplicando ao Senhor que não mais os deixasse cair em tão grandes males. Mas que, se tornassem a pecar, fossem por ele corrigidos com moderação, sem contudo serem entregues às nações blasfemas e bárbaras.

Depois disso, decidiram prostrar-se por terra, diante do Senhor, pedindo para não caírem em semelhante desgraças, mas que, se voltassem a pecar, que ele os castigasse com brandura e não os entregasse a nações blasfemas e bárbaras.
