But Judith fell upon her face, and [1] put ashes upon her head, and uncovered [2] the sackcloth wherewith she was clothed; and [3] the incense of that evening was now being offered at Jerusalem in the house of God, and Judith cried unto the Lord with a loud voice, and said,

Judite prostrou-se com o rosto por terra. Pôs cinza sobre a cabeça e despojou-se até ficar apenas com o pano de saco que havia vestido. Era a hora em que se oferecia em Jerusalém, no Templo de Deus, o incenso da tarde.[x] Em alta voz, Judite clamou ao Senhor e disse:
