Thus he that had driven many out of their country perished in a strange land, retiring to the Lacedemonians, and thinking there to find succour by reason of his kindred:

And he that had driven many from their own country into strange lands perished himself in a strange land, having crossed the sea to [17] the Lacedæmonians, as thinking to find shelter there because they were [18] near of kin;

Assim, aquele que havia banido a tantos de sua pátria, em terra estrangeira veio a perecer, tendo-se dirigido aos lacedemônios com a esperança de aí receber abrigo, em consideração à origem comum.
