Nevertheless the Jews that were compelled to go with him said, O destroy not so cruelly and barbarously, but give honour to that day, which he, that seeth all things, hath honoured with holiness above all other days.

Os judeus, obrigados por ele a segui-lo, disseram-lhe: Não faças um massacre tão selvagem e tão bárbaro, mas respeita por teu lado o dia escolhido e especialmente santificado por aquele que tudo vê.

Disseram-lhe então os judeus, que o estavam seguindo coagidos: "Não vás fazê-los perecer de modo tão selvagem e bárbaro, mas antes tributa a glória devida ao dia que mais que os outros foi honrado com santidade por Aquele que vela sobre todas as coisas!"
