Now under the coats of every one that was slain they found things consecrated to the idols of the Jamnites, which is forbidden the Jews by the law. Then every man saw that this was the cause wherefore they were slain.

But under the garments of each one of the dead they found [58] consecrated tokens of the idols of [59] Jamnia, [60] which the law forbids the Jews to have aught to do with; and it became clear to all that it was for this cause that they had fallen.

Ora, sob a túnica de cada um encontraram objetos consagrados aos ídolos de Jânia, proibidos aos judeus pela lei: todos, pois, reconheceram que fora esta a causa de sua morte.

Então encontraram, debaixo das túnicas de cada um dos mortos, objetos consagrados aos ídolos de Jâmnia,[b] cujo uso a Lei vedava aos judeus. Tornou-se assim evidente, para todos, que foi por esse motivo que eles sucumbiram.
