Whereupon being accused of the king's friends before Eupator, and called traitor at every word because he had left Cyprus, that Philometor had committed unto him, and departed to Antiochus Epiphanes, and seeing that he was in no honourable place, he was so discouraged, that he poisoned himself and died.

Whereupon being accused by the king's [24] Friends before [25] Eupator, and hearing himself called traitor at every turn, because he had abandoned [26] Cyprus which [27] Philometor had intrusted to him, and had withdrawn himself unto [28] Antiochus called Epiphanes, and [29] failing to uphold the honour of his office, he took poison and made away with himself.

mas, pelos favoritos do rei, ele havia sido denunciado a Eupator. Por outro lado, tachado muitas vezes de traidor, por ter deixado Chipre que lhe havia entregue Filometor e se ter posto a serviço de Antíoco Epífanes, e, em conseqüência, não podendo exercer com honra seu alto posto, envenenou-se e morreu.

Por esse motivo, foi acusado junto a Eupátor pelos amigos do rei. De fato, a toda hora chamavam-no de traidor, pelo fato de haver abandonado Chipre[s] - que lhe fora confiada por Filométor - e por haver passado para o lado de Antíoco Epifanes. Assim, não conseguindo mais exercer com honra o seu cargo, tomando veneno, abandonou a vida.

But for this thing he was accused of (or by) (the king’s) friends with (or before) Eupator, when he heard often, Thou traitor, for that he had forsaken Cyprus, betaken to him of (or by) Philometor, and had translated to Antiochus noble (or had gone over to Antiochus Epiphanes), also he had gone away from him, (and) with venom (or poison) he ended the life.

Por causa disso, foi alvo de acusações a Eupátor pelos Amigos do Rei [45] , ouvindo a todo o momento que era suspeito de traição, por ter abandonado a ilha de Chipre, que lhe fora confiada por Filometor, e ter passado para o lado de Epifânio. Não podendo exercer com nobreza a sua nobre função, envenenou-se e deixou esta vida.
