But with them that were in Bethsura he made peace: for they came out of the city, because they had no victuals there to endure the siege, it being a year of rest to the land.

Fez igualmente a paz com os habitantes de Betsur, porquanto estes saíram da cidade, porque já não tinham víveres para continuarem ali, pois era o ano sabático.

Entrementes, fez tratativas de paz com os habitantes de Betsur, os quais saíram da cidade porque não tinham mais víveres para ali sustentarem um cerco: era o ano sabático para a terra.[i]

O rei fez um acordo de paz com os moradores de Bet-Sur, e todos eles saíram da cidade. Porque, se a cidade fosse cercada pelos inimigos, os moradores não teriam mantimentos suficientes para aguentar o cerco, pois era o sétimo ano [29] , e nesse ano os campos não eram semeados.
