For in his time things prospered in his hands, so that the heathen were taken out of their country, and they also that were in the city of David in Jerusalem, who had made themselves a tower, out of which they issued, and polluted all about the sanctuary, and did much hurt in the holy place:

And in his days things [50] prospered in his hands, [51] so that the Gentiles were taken away out of their country, and they also that were in the city of David, they that were in Jerusalem, [52] who had made themselves a citadel, out of which they issued, and polluted all things round about the sanctuary, and did great hurt unto its purity;

Sob sua autoridade o povo tinha chegado a rechaçar os gentios de seu território e a expulsar os ocupantes da cidade de Davi em Jerusalém, lugar no qual haviam estabelecido uma cidadela e da qual saíam para manchar os acessos do templo e profanar gravemente a santidade.

Ainda nos seus dias foi-lhe dado por suas mãos extirpar do seu país[p] os gentios, incluídos aqueles que estavam na cidade de Davi em Jerusalém. Esses haviam construído para si a Cidadela, da qual saíam para profanar as imediações do lugar santo, causando grave atentado à sua pureza.

And in his days it had prosperity in his hands, (so) that (the) heathen men were taken away from the country of them, (and) which were (also) in the city of David in Jerusalem, in the high tower, from which they came out, and defouled all things that were in compass of holy things (or from which they came out, and defiled all the things that were around the Temple), and gave great wound to (its) chastity (or to its purity).
