Nevertheless, when I perceived that I could not otherwise obtain her, except God gave her me; and that was a point of wisdom also to know whose gift she was; I prayed unto the Lord, and besought him, and with my whole heart I said,

But perceiving that I could not otherwise [38] possess wisdom [39] except God gave her me (Yea and to know [40] by whom the grace is given, this too came of understanding), [41] I pleaded with the Lord and besought him,And [42] with my whole heart I said,

mas, consciente de não poder possuir a sabedoria, a não ser por dom de Deus, (e já era inteligência o saber de onde vem o dom), eu me voltei para o Senhor, e invoquei-o, dizendo do fundo do coração:

Ao me dar conta de que somente a ganharia, se Deus ma concedesse - e já era sinal de entendimento saber a origem desta graça -, dirigi-me ao Senhor e rezei, dizendo de todo meu coração:

And as I knew, that else I may not be chaste, no but God give it, and this same thing was wisdom, to know whose this gift was; I went to the Lord, and I besought him, and I said, of (or with) all mine entrails (of mine heart). [And as I knew, for otherwise I may not be continent, either chaste, but God give, and that self was wisdom, to know of whom was that gift; I went to the Lord, and prayed him and said, of all the entrails of mine heart.]

And as I knew, that else I may not be chaste [or continent], no but God give it, and this same thing was wisdom, to know whose this gift was; I went to the Lord, and I besought him, and I said, of all mine entrails [or of all the entrails of mine heart].

Mas vim a saber que não teria a sabedoria se ela não me fosse dada por Deus; que já era um sinal de inteligência saber de onde vem esse presente. Por isso, orei ao Senhor e de todo o coração fiz-lhe o pedido que se segue.
