For the righteous children of good men did sacrifice secretly, and with one consent made a holy law, that the saints should be like partakers of the same good and evil, the fathers now singing out the songs of praise.

[24] For holy children [25] of good men offered sacrifice in secret,And with one consent they took upon themselves the covenant of the [26] divine law, That [27] they would partake alike in the same good things and the same perils; [28] The fathers already leading the sacred songs of praise.

Por isso, os santos filhos dos justos ofereciam secretamente um sacrifício; de comum acordo estabeleciam o pacto divino: que os santos participariam dos mesmos bens e correriam os mesmos perigos; e entoavam já os hinos de seus pais,[*]

Os santos filhos dos bons[a] ofereciam sacrifícios ocultos e, de comum acordo, estabeleceram esta lei divina: que os santos compartilhassem igualmente bens e perigos, e começaram a entoar os hinos dos Pais.[b]

For why (the) just children of good men made sacrifice privily, and disposed the law of rightfulness into according; they disposed just men to receive goods and evils in like manner, and sung praisings to the Father of all men. [Hiddenly forsooth the rightwise children of good men sacrificed, and the law of rightwiseness they disposed to accord; (in) like manner rightwise men goods and evils to receive, noble praisings to the father of all singing.]

For why just [or the rightwise] children of good men made sacrifice privily, and disposed the law of rightfulness [or rightwiseness] into according; they disposed or assigned just [or rightwise] men to receive goods and evils in like manner, and sung [or singing] praisings to the Father of all men.

Os santos descendentes dos bons ofereceram-te sacrifícios em segredo [50] . Juntos prometeram obedecer à tua divina lei e resolveram repartir uns com os outros tanto as bênçãos como os perigos. Então começaram a cantar os hinos dos seus antepassados.
