Howbeit for both causes shall they be justly punished: both because they thought not well of God, giving heed unto idols, and also unjustly swore in deceit, despising holiness.

But for both sins shall the just doom pursue them, Because they had evil thoughts of God by giving heed to idols, And [49] swore unrighteously in deceit through contempt for holiness.

Contudo, o castigo os atingirá por duplo motivo: porque eles desconheceram a Deus, afeiçoando-se aos ídolos, e porque são culpados, por desprezo à santidade da religião, de ter feito juramentos enganadores.

Por dupla razão, porém, a sentença os atingirá: pensaram mal de Deus, inclinando-se para os ídolos, e juraram contra a verdade e a justiça, desprezando a santidade.

Mas por duas razões receberão o castigo que merecem: porque, desta maneira dedicados aos ídolos, estão errados a respeito de Deus, e porque desprezam tudo o que é sagrado e juram falso a fim de enganarem os outros.
