2 I counsel thee to keep the king's commandment, and that in regard of the oath of God.
2 [2]Strive not with a rich man, lest haply he overweigh thee: [3]For gold hath destroyed many, And turned aside the hearts of kings.
2 Não tenhas desavença com um rico, para não acontecer que ele te mova um processo;
2 Não contendas com um rico, para que não oponha a ti o seu peso, porque o ouro perdeu a muitos e seduziu o coração dos reis.
2 I keep the mouth of the king, and the commandments and [the] swearings of God. (I counsel, or advice, thee to obey the king’s commands, and to keep your oath, or your pledge, to God.)
2 Strive thou not with a rich man, lest peradventure he make play again-ward to thee [or lest again-ward he set strife to thee]. For why gold and silver hath lost many men; and it stretcheth forth till to the heart[s] of kings, and turneth them.
2 Be not at variance with a rich man, lest he overweigh you: for gold has destroyed many, and perverted the hearts of kings.
