Because all the inhabitants of Bethulia have their water thence; and thirst shall kill them, and they shall give up their city: and we and our people will go up to the tops of the mountains that are near, and will encamp upon them, to watch that not one man go out of the city.

Deus seja juiz entre nós e ti, pois, recusando negociar a paz com os assírios, atraíste a desgraça sobre nós; e por isso entregou-nos Deus nas suas mãos.

Com efeito, é lá que todos os habitantes de Betúlia buscam água, e a sede os forçará então a te entregarem a sua cidade. Nós e nosso povo subiremos aos cumes dos montes mais próximos e acamparemos neles, como sentinelas, para que não saia da cidade um só homem.
