Then Judas Maccabeus, and they that were with him, went privily into the towns, and called their kinsfolks together, and took unto them all such as continued in the Jews' religion, and assembled about six thousand men.

[1] But [2] Judas, who is also called Maccabæus, and they that were with him, making their way privily into the villages, called unto them their kinsfolk; and taking unto them such as had continued in the Jews' religion, gathered together as many as six thousand.

Judas, apelidado Macabeu, e seus companheiros penetravam secretamente nas aldeias e convocavam seus parentes: arrastando consigo todos os que se haviam mantido fiéis ao judaísmo, formaram um grupo de aproximadamente seis mil homens.

Entretanto Judas, também chamado macabeu, e os seus companheiros, iam introduzindo-se às ocultas nas aldeias. Chamando a si os coirmãos de raça e recrutando os que haviam perseverado firmes no judaísmo, chegaram a reunir cerca de seis mil pessoas.
