And Judas, who was ever the chief defender of the citizens both in body and mind, and who continued his love toward his countrymen all his life, commanded to strike off Nicanor's head, and his hand with his shoulder, and bring them to Jerusalem.

And he that in all things was in body and soul the foremost champion of his fellow-citizens, he that kept through life the good will of his youth toward his countrymen, commanded [44] to cut off Nicanor's head, and his hand with the shoulder, and bring them to Jerusalem.

Aquele que se consagrara de corpo e alma ao serviço de seus concidadãos, e conservara para com seus compatriotas o amor de sua juventude, ordenou que degolassem a cabeça de Nicanor, como também a mão e o braço, e os levassem a Jerusalém.
