Wherefore he went in all haste, and said to the king and the captains of the host and the company, We decay daily, and our victuals are but small, and the place we lay siege unto is strong, and the affairs of the kingdom lie upon us:

Soube-o Lísias e apressou a partida dizendo ao rei, aos oficiais e aos homens: Nós nos vamos enfraquecendo aqui dia por dia, temos poucos víveres, e o lugar que sitiamos é forte, enquanto nos devemos ocupar com os negócios do reino.

Então apressou-se em dar a entender que era preciso voltar, dizendo ao rei, aos generais do exército e aos soldados: "Estamos enfraquecendo-nos dia por dia. Nossas provisões diminuem e o lugar que estamos sitiando é bem fortificado. Além disso, os cuidados do reino aguardam-nos.
