And in these he made cunning devices, about the which he set great pillars, and upon the pillars he made all their armour for a perpetual memory, and by the armour ships carved, that they might be seen of all that sail on the sea.

And for these he made cunning devices, setting about them great pillars, and upon the pillars he fashioned [22] all manner of arms for a perpetual memory, and beside the [23] arms ships carved, that they should be seen of [24] all that sail on the sea.

Colocou nelas ornamentos e cercou-as com altas colunas, sobre as quais, para eterna lembrança, colocou muitas armas e, junto a estas, navios esculpidos, que podiam ser vistos por todos os que se achavam no mar.

Adornou-as com artifícios engenhosos, circundando-as de grandes colunas sobre as quais mandou colocar armaduras completas, para recordação perene. Além disso, ao lado das armaduras, mandou colocar navios esculpidos, de modo que o conjunto pudesse ser visto por todos os que navegam o mar.
